
Danica Sue Patrick is an American former professional racing racer. Danica Sue Patrick is among the most successful woman in American open-wheel racing time. The victory she won in Indy Japan 300 was her first victory. With her parents' consent she quit high school and emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1998 to pursue her dream of becoming a professional. Patrick was a racer in Formula Vauxhall, Formula Ford before returning to the United States in 2001. She took part in five Barber Dodge Pro Series races in 2002 for Rahal Letterman Racing. Patrick was an official Toyota Atlantic Series racer for the next two seasons. Her best finish was third in the championship standings for 2004 season. She was the first female in the series to earn an overall position. She was named the 2005 IndyCar Series Rookie of Year. She showed improvement in the subsequent two seasons with Rahal Letterman Racing 2006, and later Andretti Green Racing 2007. Patrick came in sixth place in the drivers' standings following her win in Japan. The following season she improved on this, and was fifth overall in the drivers' standings. She also placed the third best of her career at Indianapolis 500, which was the highest performance by a female driver in the race. Patrick's overall form declined during the year, but she achieved two second-place finishes at oval tracks prior to leaving IndyCar after the 2011 season, focusing exclusively on stock car racing.
