Amanda Brugel

Brugel is the sole Canadian part of the Season 1 cast. She was seen only occasionally. However, by Season 2 she had become a series frequent and was a part of the cast ever since. When discussing her character as well as the parallels to her reality, Brugel may be able to relate to the racism and discrimination she's faced in other areas of her life. She said: "I lean heavily on race. As I mentioned, I have been through situations in which I felt like I was treated like the slave because I am white." My race has never led any physical injury in my life, but verbal abuse is something I've experienced. If someone says something threatening or smacking them, I use any racial insults that felt real to me. I use that feeling for almost every scene since I can feel as if she's been punched or slapped in some manner in nearly every scene."
