Adele

AdeleAdele Mara (April 28, 1923 until May 7 in 2010) was an American actress, singer and dancer who appeared in films during the 1940s and 1950s as well as on television in the 1950s and 1960s and later on. Adele St. Mara became her professional name and she was offered a contract with Columbia Pictures[citation required]. She worked on comedy shorts and features on Columbia Pictures "B". In the end, the name was changed to Adele Mara. Mara began her professional career as a receptionist in the Three Stooges movie I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks were the sisters of Rita Hayworth in the Fred Astaire movie You Were Never Lovelier. Brooks plays Alias Boston Blackie (1942) as the sister of an innocently accused and freed convict. She joined Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was cancelled. There she worked in films based on westerns and outdoor adventures. [citation needed] She appeared in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch which starred John Wayne, Angel in Exile (leading lady), Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne in which she was John Agar's love-interest, California Passage (leading lady) and Don Siegel's Count the Hours (supporting role).
